R.E.P.O. Secrets: All Hidden Rooms & Easter Eggs

R.E.P.O. hides more than most players ever see: secret shop rooms that move between runs, weapons you cannot buy anywhere else, and a story told almost entirely through props. Here is everything that is actually confirmed.

Quick Answer

R.E.P.O.'s biggest secret is the secret shop room. Since the Cosmetics Update it no longer has one fixed spot — the Service Station rolls several layouts, hiding the room in the ceiling above the shop, above the first bathroom cubicle, under a fake floor at the back, behind a cracked wall, in a garage, or upstairs in a keycard-locked manager's office. Inside are the Human Grenade and Duct Taped Grenade at about $2,000 each, sold nowhere else. Some runs spawn no secret room at all.

All R.E.P.O. Secret Room Locations

The Cosmetics Update turned one fixed secret room into a set of randomized variants. Identify which shop layout you loaded into, then go straight to the matching entrance instead of searching blind.

The Ceiling Crawlspace (Service Shop)

The original secret shop. Walk to the health-item shelf at the end of the aisle, face it directly, then turn 180 degrees and look up: the movable ceiling tile sits roughly two panels ahead and two to the right. Grab the far edge of the tile and pull it toward you to swing it open.

The Bathroom Crawlspace (WC)

In the shop layout with a toilet, the entrance is the crawlspace above the first cubicle. This is the easiest secret room in the game to reach because it needs no upgrades, drones, or teammates — flushing the toilet while you are standing in it launches you up into the crawlspace.

The Manager's Office (Keycard)

If your shop has a door leading to a staircase, you have the manager-office variant. The office door upstairs is locked and has a card slot beside it. The small white keycard spawns somewhere on the shop floor — common spots include beside a plant pot, behind the cash register, and on shelves or boxes.

The Fake Floor & Basement (Back of the Station)

At the back of the Service Station, near the freezers with cracked glass, part of the floor is fake. Break or drop through it and you land in a basement area below the shop — easily the most atmospheric of the secret rooms.

Cracked Walls & The Garage

Other layouts hide the secret room behind a cracked wall panel or inside a garage section of the station. Sweep the shop perimeter for damaged surfaces before you spend your cash — the damage is subtle and blends into the environment.

Important: not every match has a secret room. If a two-minute sweep of the ceiling, bathroom, back wall and stairs turns up nothing, the layout you rolled does not include one.

How to Get Into the R.E.P.O. Secret Room

Most entrances sit above head height. These are the reliable ways up, from free to expensive:

1

Tumble and get carried

Press Q (default) to enter the tumble/ball state, then have a teammate pick you up and lift you to the opening. This is the classic two-player method and costs nothing.

2

Extra Jump upgrades

If your squad has stacked Extra Jump upgrades, you can often reach the ceiling opening on your own. The more jumps you have banked, the fewer props you need to stack.

3

Stand on a Pocket Cart or props

Deploying the Pocket Cart, or stacking shop crates and boxes, adds just enough height to clear the lip of the opening. Any solid prop you can stand on works.

4

Use the Feather Drone

A Feather Drone lets you hover up to the entrance without a teammate. Handy if you are shopping solo or your friends have already spent their money.

5

Shoot the ceiling tile open

If a gun is on sale in the Service Shop, you can simply shoot the ceiling tile instead of grabbing and pulling it. Faster, though it uses ammo you might want later.

Secret Items You Cannot Buy Anywhere Else

This is the real reason to hunt the room down. These items never appear on the normal shop shelves:

Human Grenade

A grenade that turns a teammate into the payload. Chaotic, funny, and genuinely useful against a cornered monster — but it can only be bought inside a secret room, never on the normal shop floor.

$2,000

Duct Taped Grenade

A bundle of grenades taped together for a much larger blast. Same story as the Human Grenade: secret-room exclusive, and cheap relative to most of the weapons on the main shelves.

$2,000

Duck Bucket

A secret-shop-only item reported by the community at roughly five to eight thousand dollars. Prices vary between runs, so check the tag before you commit your whole haul to it.

~$5,000–$8,000

Hidden Details & Easter Eggs Most Players Walk Past

R.E.P.O. never explains its world out loud. Everything below is sitting in the levels waiting to be noticed:

Human skeletons are everywhere

Human remains appear in several levels and in the store itself. They quietly establish two things: how small the Semibots actually are next to a person, and that the planet has been without living humans long enough for bodies to become bare bone.

The king wizard of Swiftbrook Academy

In some Swiftbrook Academy runs you can find a skeleton seated on a throne with a book still in its hands. Nothing in-game explains what killed the wizards or what they were doing there — it is pure environmental storytelling.

McJannek Station, the frozen lab

The truck drops you at an abandoned frozen laboratory scattered with dead scientists and whiteboards. What the facility was researching, and why the Taxman wants samples and fossils hauled out of it, has never been stated outright.

The Taxman speaks only in emojis

Your employer communicates through a fleshy crying-laughing emoji face and mocking emoji messages. Semiwork developer Pontus consistently refers to the Taxman as an AI in the studio devlogs, which is the strongest evidence the community has about what it actually is.

Cosmetic boxes get easier to find

Cosmetics come from special boxes that spawn randomly in levels, and the chance of one appearing increases every run you finish without finding one. A dry streak is not bad luck alone — it is quietly improving your odds.

R.E.P.O. Secrets FAQ

Where is the secret room in R.E.P.O.?

There is no single fixed location any more. The original secret room sits in the ceiling above the Service Shop, but since the Cosmetics Update the Service Station generates in several randomized layouts, and each one hides its secret room differently — above a bathroom cubicle, under a fake floor at the back, behind a cracked wall, in a garage section, or upstairs in a locked manager's office. Check the shop layout first, then look for the entrance that matches it.

Does every run have a secret room?

No. The randomized shop layouts introduced with the Cosmetics Update mean some matches simply spawn without a secret room at all. If you have swept the ceiling, the bathroom, the back wall and the stairs and found nothing, it is very likely this run does not have one. Do not burn five minutes of shop time hunting — bank the cash and try again next round.

What is the easiest secret room to get into?

The bathroom crawlspace. It sits above the first cubicle, and you can reach it by standing in the toilet and flushing it — the flush ejects you straight up into the crawlspace. No upgrades, no drone, no teammate required, which makes it the only secret room a solo player can reliably access with zero preparation.

Where does the manager's office keycard spawn?

The keycard spawns randomly somewhere on the shop floor, and it is small and white, so it is easy to walk past. The most commonly reported spots are on the floor beside a plant pot, behind the cash register on a box, and on general shelving. Sweep at floor level first — most players miss it because they are looking at eye height.

Are the secret shop items actually worth the money?

The grenades are. The Human Grenade and Duct Taped Grenade both run about $2,000, which is cheap next to most of the weapons on the regular shelves, and the secret shop is the only place that sells either one. If your squad is about to hit a difficulty spike, two grenades for $4,000 is strong value. The Duck Bucket is a much larger spend and more of a novelty pickup.

Are there secret codes or hidden game modes?

Be careful here. A lot of low-quality sites list typed unlock codes, hidden weapons and secret game modes for R.E.P.O. that no major outlet, Steam guide or developer post has ever confirmed. The secrets that are genuinely documented are physical, in-world things: the secret shop rooms, their exclusive items, and environmental lore details. If you want actual command-line features, those live in the console commands and mods, not in hidden codes.

Can I find secrets playing solo?

Yes, though your options narrow. The bathroom crawlspace works solo with no setup at all. The ceiling room is reachable alone if you have Extra Jump upgrades, a Pocket Cart to stand on, or a Feather Drone to hover with. The fake-floor basement and cracked-wall rooms need no help either. Only the classic tumble-and-carry route genuinely requires a second player.

Is there a real story behind all the hidden details?

Semiwork has never published a full narrative, so the lore is assembled from what is physically in the levels: human skeletons that place the Semibots at toy scale, the wizard skeletons of Swiftbrook Academy, the abandoned McJannek Station laboratory, and a Taxman who communicates only in emojis. Community theories fill the gaps, but very little of it is officially confirmed — treat any confident answer you read as interpretation.
