Energy Crystal in R.E.P.O.: Yellow Crystal Guide
The yellow Energy Crystal is one of the most-asked-about items in R.E.P.O. — and one of the most misunderstood. It is not a valuable you extract for cash. Here is exactly what it does, where to get it, and whether it belongs in your shop budget.
Quick Answer
The Energy Crystal is a yellow, consumable shop item sold at the Service Station for around $7,000–$9,000. It is not a valuable. It auto-loads into the truck's Charging Station and recharges your tools and shock weapons — about four bars per crystal, six crystals to fill the container from empty. If your team uses chargeable gear, it is the cheapest way to keep that gear alive.

How to Use the Energy Crystal
The crystal sits inside the truck — you do not carry it into a level. Four-step flow:
Buy at the Service Station
Energy Crystals only spawn in the in-between Service Station shop. Stock is randomly generated, so they will not appear every visit. When they do, you may see one to several in stock at $7K–$9K each.
Crystal auto-loads into the truck
Unlike valuables you carry, the crystal does not occupy a physical slot in the truck. Once purchased, it goes straight into the Charging Station (the container marked with a yellow lightning-bolt icon) and fills its yellow charge meter.
Drop a tool to recharge it
Pick up a depleted weapon or tool, drop it into the left compartment of the Charging Station, and the meter drains while the item refills. One crystal restores about four bars; six crystals fill the bank from empty.
Replace when depleted
A crystal is consumed as you use it and eventually breaks. Plan to buy more next time the Service Station has stock — running out mid-run leaves your shock weapons and trackers useless.
Is the Energy Crystal Worth Buying?
A chargeable weapon in R.E.P.O. (Stun Baton, Pulse Pistol, Tranq Gun) costs $30,000–$50,000 in the shop. An Energy Crystal that refills it costs $7K–$9K. The math is straightforward: as long as you own one chargeable tool, a crystal is roughly an 80% discount on staying combat-ready.
Where the crystal becomes a bad buy is on early runs when your loadout is mostly cart and grabbers — there is nothing for the crystal to charge. Money in those rounds is better spent on Health, Stamina, or Strength upgrades from the same Service Station. Once you commit to a shock-based combat strategy, keep one or two crystals on the shopping list every visit.
Tip: A crystal's charge stays in the container across levels. You do not have to use it immediately — buy when stock is good, save the bars for the level where you actually need them.

Energy Crystal FAQ
What is the Energy Crystal in R.E.P.O.?
The Energy Crystal is a yellow consumable item sold at the Service Station between levels. It is not a valuable you extract for cash — it is a power source you buy and load into the truck's Charging Station to recharge tools, weapons, and other equipment that uses charge bars. Without crystals, depleted gear stays useless until you find or buy a replacement.
How much does an Energy Crystal cost?
Most listings sit between $7,000 and $9,000 per crystal at the Service Station. The price can drift toward the higher end of that range, but the size, charge value, and effectiveness of the crystal are identical regardless of the listed price. There is no premium 'large' crystal — every yellow crystal you buy provides the same charge.
Where do Energy Crystals spawn?
Energy Crystals only spawn in the Service Station, the shop accessible between levels. They are not found inside levels alongside valuables. The Service Station rolls stock randomly each visit, so a crystal is not guaranteed to appear — but they are one of the more common shop items, and you will often see at least one when you check.
What does an Energy Crystal charge?
Anything in R.E.P.O. with a charge bar: shock weapons (Stun Baton, Pulse Pistol), the Extraction Tracker, Tranq Gun, and other powered tools you buy at the shop. Drop the depleted item into the left compartment of the Charging Station inside the truck, and the crystal's yellow meter drains while the item refills.
How many crystals fill the Charging Station?
Six Energy Crystals fully charge the truck's energy container from empty. A single crystal restores roughly four bars on a depleted item, so one crystal is usually enough to top off a single weapon between runs. If your team is leaning on shock weapons heavily, buying two or three at a time gives you a solid buffer.
Are Energy Crystals worth buying?
Yes, if your team uses any chargeable weapon or tracker. A single Stun Baton or Pulse Pistol costs around $30,000–$50,000, so spending $7K–$9K to refill one is far cheaper than buying a replacement. If you have not invested in any chargeable gear yet, skip the crystal and put the money toward upgrades or another valuable.
Can I extract Energy Crystals as valuables for cash?
No. The Energy Crystal is a shop-purchased power source, not an in-level valuable. You cannot find one inside a haunted location, and it does not count toward your quota. To hunt for cash items, see our valuables guide for the items players actually grab during runs.
Are Energy Crystals fragile like other items?
No. Because the crystal is loaded directly into the Charging Station the moment you buy it, you never carry it as a physical object — there is nothing to drop, smash, or fumble onto a teammate. The only way to 'lose' a crystal is to use it up by recharging gear, at which point it breaks and disappears.
