R.E.P.O. Maps & Levels Guide: All Locations Explained
R.E.P.O. has four playable maps, each randomly chosen and procedurally generated every run. Here is what to expect from every location, how levels scale, and how extraction points work.
Quick Answer
R.E.P.O. currently has four maps: Headman Manor, McJannek Station, Swiftbroom Academy and the Museum of Human Art. You cannot choose which one you play — the game picks at random and procedurally generates the layout, valuables and your spawn every run. Levels get harder as you progress, with bigger maps, more monsters and more extraction points. Extraction points always spawn at the map edges, and only one can be active at a time.
All R.E.P.O. Maps
Four locations are in rotation right now. Each has a distinct layout, hazard profile and set of valuables.
Headman Manor
Mansion · Hardest
A forgotten mansion of narrow corridors, courtyards and multiple floors. The claustrophobic layout makes it easy for monsters to corner you during extraction, so most players rate Headman Manor as the toughest map. Plenty of furniture to hide under, and dangerous pits open up in the later levels.
McJannek Station
Arctic base · Open
An abandoned arctic research station out in the snow. It is built from large rooms joined by wide corridors that are usually packed with loot. The open sightlines make it easier to spot monsters early, which makes McJannek Station one of the friendlier maps for newer teams.
Swiftbroom Academy
Wizard school · Mixed
A Hogwarts-style school for young wizards, now empty except for monsters and valuables. Expect lecture halls, dormitories, classrooms and even a dungeon, plus magical valuables like the love potion, giant wand and flying broom. A mix of tight rooms and open halls.
Museum of Human Art
Museum · Vents & pits
Added in the game’s first major update, this graffiti-covered abandoned museum has a large open floor plan, unique art-themed valuables, lots of vents to crawl through, and plenty of pits in the later stages. The vents create handy escape routes the other maps don’t have.
How R.E.P.O. Levels & Map Generation Work
There are only four maps, but R.E.P.O. keeps them fresh through randomization. Here is how the level system works:
The map is chosen at random
When the Taxman drops you into a level you do not pick the map — the game randomly selects one of the available locations each time.
Every layout is procedurally generated
Even on the same map, the room layout, valuable placement and your spawn point are randomized on every run, so no two visits are identical.
Levels get bigger and harder
From roughly level three onward the layouts grow more elaborate, with higher quotas, more monsters and more extraction points to clear before you can leave.
Difficulty does not scale with player count
Whether you run solo or with six players, the level itself stays the same — the same quota and monster count apply, so a small team faces the exact same map.
Navigating R.E.P.O. Maps & Extraction Points
A few habits make every map easier to read, no matter which one the Taxman drops you into.
Extraction points spawn at the edges
Extraction points always appear around the outer edge of the map. When a new level loads, sweep the perimeter first so you know where you will need to haul your loot.
Only one extraction can be active at once
You must finish the active extraction point before another can open. Trying to force an inactive one early simply fails, so plan your route around the current target.
Learn the landmarks, not the layout
Because layouts are randomized, memorizing exact rooms is pointless. Instead learn each map’s recognizable landmarks — the manor courtyard, the station’s big halls, the museum vents — to keep your bearings.
Watch for pits on Manor and Museum
Headman Manor and the Museum of Human Art both open up dangerous pits in the later levels. Carrying a fragile valuable near a pit while a monster chases you is one of the most common ways teams lose a haul.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many maps are in R.E.P.O.?
There are currently four playable maps: Headman Manor, McJannek Station (an arctic base), Swiftbroom Academy (a wizard school) and the Museum of Human Art, which was added in the game’s first major update. R.E.P.O. is in early access, so the developers Semiwork continue to add new locations over time. Because every map is procedurally generated, four maps still produce huge variety from run to run.
Can I choose which map I play?
No. In the base game the map is selected randomly each time you launch into a level, so you cannot pick a favourite. Some community mods on Thunderstore let you force a specific map for practice, but they only work in private modded lobbies and every player needs the same mod installed. In normal play, learning all four maps is the only reliable strategy.
What is the hardest map in R.E.P.O.?
Most players consider Headman Manor the hardest because its narrow corridors and multiple floors make it easy for monsters to trap you, especially during extraction. McJannek Station tends to be the most forgiving thanks to wide, open rooms with good sightlines. Swiftbroom Academy and the Museum sit in between, with the Museum’s vents offering escape routes but its pits punishing careless carrying.
How many levels are there in R.E.P.O.?
There is no fixed ending — R.E.P.O. is a roguelike where you keep going until your team wipes or fails to meet a quota. Players regularly reach level nine and beyond, with some pushing into the teens. There is no officially confirmed level cap, and the difficulty keeps climbing the further you get, so how far you reach depends entirely on your team’s skill.
How do extraction points work on each map?
Extraction points spawn at the edges of the map, and only one can be active and completed at a time. You bring valuables to the active point to meet the level’s quota; higher levels add more extraction points you must clear before leaving. Trying to open an inactive extraction point before finishing the current one will fail, so always complete the active one first.
Will more maps be added?
Almost certainly. The Museum of Human Art arrived in the first major content update, and Semiwork has continued to expand R.E.P.O. throughout early access. While there is no public roadmap listing every upcoming location, the pattern so far suggests additional maps and monsters will keep arriving with future updates. Check our news page for the latest additions.
Should I memorize the maps?
Memorizing exact room layouts does not help because every run is procedurally generated. What does help is learning each map’s feel and signature landmarks so you can navigate quickly, recognise where pits and vents tend to appear, and head straight for the perimeter to find extraction points when a level loads.
